Great quote for the day!

Fresh Facts about KFC that are So Good to Know

It all started with a single cook who created a world famous recipe more than 70 years ago and a list of secret herbs and   spices scratched out on the back of his kitchen door. That cook was Colonel Harland Sanders, the pioneer of KFC. Today
KFC is the world's most popular chicken restaurant, still specialising in the Colonel’s original secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices.

More than 40 years after arriving in South Africa, KFC continues to promise quality, freshness and great tasting products. Whether you’re in a big city or a small town, KFC’s chicken is prepared with the same high standards worldwide serving every customer with deliciously fresh food every time. All of our products are freshly prepared in-store by our team of trained staff across the country.

To us, serving you the great tasting chicken you know and love is always a priority.  We also source only premium quality chickens from our suppliers, so you can be sure you’re enjoying the same great quality chicken you cook at home.

So what’s the secret behind our great tasting chicken?

We source our chicken locally from the same suppliers that supply South Africa’s premium retailers

Contrary to what some people believe, KFC doesn’t manage or run its own chicken farms. In fact, our chicken is sourced locally from the very same chicken farms that supply your favourite premium retailers and we’re always open and honest about the quality of our chicken and where we source it from.

We're as passionate about the welfare of our chickens as we are about where we source them from. We care about our chicken and we make sure that all the chicken we source is treated humanely by our suppliers. We have strict policies in place with our suppliers and we make sure that they all meet our animal welfare standards. Our suppliers tell us that standards and requirements are some of the highest in the industry. In fact, they have said that KFC has a reputation for being one of the most challenging and thorough in the global industry. As part of these strict requirements, our suppliers have set up a specific supply of chicken for our KFC restaurants, just another way we make sure we source the best quality chicken.

Freshly prepared for you in-store
All our food, from our salads to our chicken, is freshly prepared in-store especially for you. Each piece of chicken is hand-breaded with the Colonel’s famous secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices before cooking it to a specific time and ideal temperature in our kitchens.

Our team members are experts at making the KFC products you know and love, with the same high standards, every time. After the chicken is cooked we keep it for a specific holding time at a precise temperature to make sure it’s kept hot and fresh so your every bite is as delicious as the next. We monitor the temperature of the chicken after its been cooked as a standard process and this is enforced in all of our restaurants from South Africa to Shanghai.

Our processes also apply from farm to store and our restaurants receive deliveries three times a week which helps us make sure our products are always fresh.

Global Standards = Highest Quality
Whether you are in South Africa or anywhere in the world, all KFC restaurants follow the same global processes and procedures to make sure that you get consistently great tasting food every time. We maintain our high standards by making sure that every one of our 750 KFC restaurants across the country are audited five times a year to check that they follow our health and safety procedures. In fact, the way our food is cooked and prepared is strictly controlled in every one of our restaurants using the same audit that is conducted at all KFC’s globally because consistency and quality is important no matter which KFC you’re at in the world.

It’s important to us that you let us know about your experience at our restaurants, so we have launched Guest Experience Survey  where you can let us know about your experience and we can use that feedback to make sure every experience you have at a KFC is truly So Good. Go to www.kfclistens.co.za to complete the survey.

So now you know how KFC keeps its kitchens, and its chicken So Good for you to enjoy great tasting and fresh products, every time.

To find out more visit www.kfc.co.za  or contact our customer care line 0860 100 222, or drop us a comment on Facebook (www.facebook.com/KFCSA) or Twitter (@KFCSA) and we’ll get back to you.

FAMILY PETS EL RIDGE

Family Pets Elridge has been in business since 2009.  All the staff have been fully trained and have received certificates concerning their training about the specific dog foods we have.  This means that we can offer specialised advice concerning your pets needs.  Many people just by food for their pets and this does not necessarily mean it has the correct nutrients in for your pet.  When a pet reaches 6 and over they are considered senior breeds and they require special food for their ageing bones and teeth.  As we are all fully trained in this area, we are able to advise and help you.  We keep a vast range of anti-flee and tick remedies as well as deworming tablets, one for each breed and size.  All of this besides our vast range of accessories for your pets needs.

In our store we have a grooming service that works by appointment only. Our groomers are all fully trained with certificates and have completed the required grooming school.  The manager of the store is in her final year of studying as an Animal Health Technician,  which will enable her to be able to give vaccinations once she has completed her studies. This can be done by appointment and in store as well.  This works very well having someone like her in the store. As the dogs are being groomed we can inform the owner of any potential problems and concerns we pick up about the doggie and inform the client .

We are not your every day pet shop. We offer specialised advice and service so everyone is welcome to visit us and discuss their concerns and needs with us.
